We had a wonderful time in Ghana on our first visit. During our time there, we conducted scouting sessions in Kumasi and Accra, where we learned a great deal about the structure of football and education systems in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service.
Our coaches, who led the Football Clinics held in schools in Accra, Kumasi and Konongo, were integral in this process. In collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, our coaches – who also serve as trainers for Manchester City and Manchester United – provided training to physical education teachers and academy coaches.
As an important part of our inaugural visit to Ghana, we distributed kits donated by Manchester United and Manchester City to the top performing young players. The kits included bags, boots, socks and jerseys.
It was an extremely exciting trip where we learned much. Encouragingly, we are now very close to finalizing an agreement with the Ghana Education Service to launch the first ever Under-9 youth football league in Ghana.
